How do you check if your site appears in AI search results?

Manual search testing

The simplest method: ask an AI search tool directly. Go to ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, or Google's AI Overview and search for topics related to your content. Include your brand name and specific topics you write about. Note whether your site appears in the cited sources.

Query your own content

Search for exact phrases from your articles. Ask questions you know you've answered thoroughly. See if the AI tool mentions or links to your page. Try 10-15 different relevant queries to get a realistic sense of visibility.

Check Google's AI Overview

Search your main topics on Google and look at the AI-generated summary box at the top. See if your domain is cited. This is an immediate indicator of whether Google's AI system recognizes your content as relevant.

Look at indexing status

Use Google Search Console to confirm Google is indexing your pages. Use Bing Webmaster Tools to check Microsoft's crawler access. These don't directly measure AI visibility, but poor indexing blocks all AI discovery.

Monitor over time

Repeat searches monthly. Track which queries return your content. This helps you understand which topics position you well in AI systems and where you need stronger content.
